You can play several different game modes including 1on1 vs. an AI, or online against players from around the world.
Checkers Online Game Play
A single checker can move forward diagonally one space per turn. To capture an opponent’s checker, a player may jump over a diagonally adjacent opponent’s checker.
The space on the other side of the opponent’s checker must be open. Multiple checkers can be captured if jumped consecutively with the same checker.
If a checker makes it to the other side of the board, it is kinged. To king a checker, another checker is placed on top of it. A kinged checker can move forward or backward on the board.
The first player to capture all the opponent’s checkers wins. If a player is unable to make a move, he/she loses the game.
Checkers Online Strategy and Tips
- Sacrifice 1 piece for 2: you can sometimes bait or force the opponent to take one of your pieces enabling you to then take 2 of their pieces.
- Pieces on the sides are valuable because they can’t be jumped.
- Don’t bunch all your pieces in the middle or you may not be able to move, and then you will lose.
- Try to keep your pieces on the back row or king row for as long as possible, to keep the other player from gaining a king.
- Plan ahead and try to look at every possible move before you take your turn.
- Practice: if you play a lot against a lot of different players, you will get better.

Those who have studied the history of checkers have also found a game called Alquerque. It was played in ancient Egypt as far back as 1,400 B.C.E.
